The Yangtze River is the third-longest river in the world, bowing only to the Nile and the Amazon. It feeds the great Chinese Nation, so it is considered to be the "Mother River" of China. This mighty waterway has shaped the course of Chinese history and culture, and its impact still resonates far beyond its banks in cities like Shanghai, Xian and Beijing. Probably the biggest a highlight a Yangtze River cruise has to offer is sailing along the Three Gorges, with the cruise's fitting conclusion at the mighty Three Gorges Dam.
Due to its magnificent scenery, the Three Gorges has been a source of inspiration for poets and artists, and one of the hottest tourist destinations for centuries. The landscape of the Three Gorges is one of the biggest draws for visitors to the Yangtze River for a good reason. The Three Gorges is one of the earliest tourist destinations in China. It is famous not only for its stunning landscapes but for the long history and splendid culture. The myriad of ancient temples, villages, and paths add to the splendor of the Three Gorges. Along the way, you’ll also have the option to step off the boat for some excellent excursions. Here are some of the places you’ll pass through during your cruise:
Fengdu Ghost City
The city was constructed on Mingshan Hill. Legend says that over 1,700 years ago, two officials named Yin and Wang (the combination of their surnames means "Ghost King ")studied Taoism here and eventually became immortals. The area now features amazing temples depicting underworld demons and gods. It demonstrates the Chinese ghost culture and is a place where the evil is punished, and the righteous are rewarded.
Lesser Three Gorges
Lesser in name and size only, its natural splendor is second to none. It is three separate gorges along the Daning River, the chief tributary of the Yangtze River; they have been named "Dragon-Gate Gorge," "Misty Gorge," and "Dicui (Emerald) Gorge" respectively. You can take a small boat to witness the spectacular views and experience a water-borne sensation that has to be seen to belive. Nature's scenery unfolds before you, with its clear water racing through the gorges, sheer cliffs and steep mountains rising steeply on either side, it is an art gallery that only nature could create.
Shennong Stream
A 60 kilometer small tributary of the Yangtze River, Shennong Stream is famous for its picturesque scenery. You can board a traditional sampan and drift along it. No one who has ever been to this spectacular place has left without being impressed by its crystal clear waters flowing swiftly through the deep gorges. Its steep peaks, thick vegetation, wild flowers, and exotic birds Shennong stream never fails to humble visitors. Carved into the steep cliffs a plank road was built in ancient times to help travelers on foot navigate the gorges, and ancient hanging coffins are suspended high on the cliff faces.

Why do we have to cruise to the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River?

A poetic experience comparable to Li Bai
Li Bai once wrote that "the dynasty resigned to the white emperor and the clouds, one thousand miles back to the river. The ape on both sides of the strait couldn't stop crying, and the light boat had passed the Wanzhong Mountain." Thousands of years ago, Li Bai was in the Three Gorges, took a leafy boat, and was surrounded by the scenery of the Three Gorges. Amazed, writing this "Early Hair White Emperor City" became a famous piece that has been passed down through the ages. Now a flatboat has become a big cruise ship, but the scenery is still there, and the shoal is still there. Don't you want to experience the happy life of a poet?
