About Wuzhen

Wuzhen offers the classic scenery of a Chinese water town: narrow lanes, stone bridges, canal-side homes, white walls, dark roof tiles, and bluestone paths. Set aside time to slow down, explore the waterways, and discover the history and culture of southeastern China.

Highlights:

Chinese people say that unless you visit the Great Wall, then you haven't been to China. For any visit south of the Yangtze River, one place not to be missed is the town of Wuzhen. You will enjoy the atmosphere of the traditional cultures and the original ancient features of the town that have been preserved intact.

In addition to a full day of sightseeing, the tour price includes lunch, along with your local English-speaking guide. In keeping with our pledge to convenience and service, you will be picked up and dropped off at your hotel in Shanghai (or Hangzhou), allowing you to have a worry-free day in Wuzhen.

Wuzhen Tour Itinerary

Wuzhen

Your English-speaking guide will meet you in your hotel lobby in Shanghai or Hangzhou. Drive to Wuzhen and begin a guided exploration of the historic water town.

Wuzhen is one of China's ancient water towns, where waterways thread their way through the flagstone streets and alleys. Wuzhen in North Zhejiang province is only about a 1.5-hour drive from Shanghai. The name "water town" is especially apt; besides lying on the Grand Canal, the settlement is entirely encircled by two rivers - the Dong Shi and a smaller tributary, which meet at a T-junction.

Explore Wuzhen’s lanes and waterways, whose history is closely connected to the Grand Canal trading network. Take a wooden boat through the canals to see traditional buildings from the water. Learn how waterborne trade helped the town develop and shaped its local customs.

After our time in Wuzhen, we will drive you back to your hotel in either Hangzhou or Shanghai, ending your day trip.
